As competition among medical schools for top students intensifies, it is crucial for the MU School of Medicine to offer competitive financial aid packages to deserving students. With reductions in federal and state funding, this can only be achieved through the generosity of private philanthropy.
Scholarship assistance plays a pivotal role in attracting the best and the brightest, with more than half of today’s medical students citing it as a key factor in their school choice. Despite current financial support, the average MU medical student graduates with more than $180,000 in educational debt. Increasing the Medical School Scholarship Fund will give Mizzou a competitive edge in recruiting talented students.
