University Libraries

Each academic day roughly 25% of the University of Missouri student body utilizes one of our campus libraries. The University of Missouri Libraries serve over 30,000 students and 3,000 faculty with a collection of more than 3.5 million print volumes, over 1 million e-books and 53,400 journal titles (in print or online). In addition, the libraries make accessible rare, fragile and culturally significant material in Special Collections and preserve the historical records of Mizzou in the University Archives. The MU Libraries support the instruction, research, service, and economic development missions of the University of Missouri by acquiring scholarly resources, developing innovative services, and applying new information technologies.

National Endowment for the Humanities West Stacks Renovation Project

Not unlike the Smithsonian or the Library of Congress, Mizzou Libraries hold materials that can be found nowhere else in the world. These materials fuel student and faculty research and enrich the classroom experience for about 2,200 Mizzou students each year.

To meet the need for environmentally controlled space in which to house our one-of-a-kind treasures, the University Libraries, with the help of the National Endowment for the Humanities, are renovating the West Stacks of Ellis Library. With upgrades to environmental controls, lighting, and security, we will create a preservation environment worthy of the historic artifacts and unique materials that we hold in our University Archives and Special Collections. Gifts to this fund will help us reach our $1.5M fundraising goal, helping to attract $500,000 in matching funds from the NEH.

Great universities have great libraries.

Collections Enhancement Fund

The rate at which new knowledge is created continues to accelerate. With a gift to the Collection Enhancement Fund you can help the libraries meet the university’s need for timely, relevant information. Access to accurate, verified information is the foundation on which a university rests all teaching and research efforts. Help us meet the information needs of future scholars with a gift to this fund.
